Boho Inspired Garden Wedding at Deane House in Calgary

Sep 13, 2020

We’ve been working with S + Q since Fall 2019 to plan & design their August 1st 2020 wedding. With the venue picked, save the dates sent, dress ordered, they were so ready for their wedding day. Unfortunately, March brought coronavirus which turned their world upside down. After waiting it out, we came to the decision that it was time to either postpone or scale their day in a way we could safely celebrate.

This wasn’t plan A. The guest list was shortened. The venue changed. There were hand sanitizer stations and guests checked in as they arrived. It was the first time we’ve done place cards for ceremony seats. Yet it was so perfect. The pre ceremony flutters were present as we prepared to send S down the aisle holding her fathers arm. Q’s smile as he saw his bride for the first time melted their nearest and dearest hearts. There were tears and laughs, nothing could change that for them.

We chose Calgary wedding venue, The Deane House, as their ceremony venue where we set up gorgeous arrangements curated by Calgary florist, Flowers By Janie, filled with pink peonies, pampas, snapdragons, earl grey roses and greenery. Calligraphy place cards by Debbie Wong Design were tied to each chair with raw silk ribbon and they popped bubbles after they said their “I do’s!”

We will see these two love birds in Summer 2021 for their postponed wedding reception where we will celebrate with a few more loved ones, a bit too much champagne and an epic dance party to end the night.

We could not have made their wedding ceremony happen as beautifully and smoothly as it did without this dream team! Every single one of these businesses were so compassionate during the changes, we love you guys!

It’s okay to postpone, it’s okay to downsize, it’s okay to do vows now and party later. It’s your day and no one elses, and we love helping couples have the wedding that feels right to them during these crazy times!
